Knowing Your TCO (Total Cost of Ownership)

When it comes to modern web development, one thing we can all probably agree on is that the JavaScript community ecosystem is well and thriving. While all these tools and libraries are great, it does beg the question, are they all needed, all the time? Instead, perhaps tooling and developer experience should be treated as a spectrum, wherein the more tools you add, the more cost (and risk) you take on to yourself, your business, and your users. In the end, we can better evaluate what the true cost of ownership is for our modern toolchains and ultimately ask ourselves, is it all worth it?
